To provide opportunity for disadvantaged youth to learn to play a musical instrument.
Developing the discipline required to learn to play a music instrument, then to go on to master the instrument, is an invaluable element in building the character in youth. The students chosen to participate in this pilot program will be highly motivated to learn to play a musical instrument. They will have been identified by musical professionals at their respective schools as possessing a certain talent potential for their age group, with the secondary criteria of coming from a low-income family. As well, parent commitment to overseeing the practice/development of the student's work will be expected and be contracted for. Agreement to regular follow-up by The Committee to ensure accountability will be standard.
